1. Water in the Anthropocene is a 3-minute film charting the global impact of humans on the water cycle.

Evidence is growing that our global footprint is now so significant we have driven Earth into a new geological epoch — the Anthropocene.

Human activities such as damming and agriculture are changing the global water cycle in significant ways.

The data visualisation was commissioned by the Global Water Systems Project for a major international conference (Water in the Anthropocene, Bonn, Germany, 21-24 May, 2013).

As datasets build upon one another, the film charts Earth’s changing global water cycle, why it is changing, and what this means for the future. The vertical spikes that appear in the film represent the 48,000 large dams that have been built.

The film was produced by Globaïa and the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme.

  2. This is the cover image for my upcoming album “Pareidolia”. To be released May 4, 2013 on Bandcamp!

Pareidolia is a psychological effect that happens e.g. whenever we are looking at random patterns. Our brain wants to see structure even when there’s no structure at all. That’s why we think we can see faces in clouds or Jesus in a sandwich. If you take some time to look at the above cover image then you may see skulls, faces of people and lions or even a tiny japanese Samurai sitting in the center of the scenery. If you see something structured within the very random mirrored clouds then it’s simply “Pareidolia”. :-)

  3. This is the cover design for my new album “Subsequent Reality”. Download on Bandcamp from March 1st 2013.

In my own definition the ‘subsequent reality’ is the perception of the world and yourself after a specific experience. It’s that moment that has changed your life. The moment that has opened your mind. The moment that has shown you what you really want, what you really need and who you really are.

The music on this album was inspired by the turn of the tides.

What about 2012? Imho it was fantastic! I was able to follow my ambient path with increasing joy. In the first six months of 2012 I was recording the Continuo album trilogy with 12 longform tracks and a total duration of massive ten hours of music! After that there was Stigma, a full album release on We Are All Ghosts, the brillant netlabel of my Scotish friend Thomas Mathie aka @headphonaught. This release was followed by Momentum which was my very first LIVE improvisation which was recorded during the internet broadcast via mixlr.com. Then the next two albums Microcosmos and Habitat completed my album releases in 2012. For Thomas Mathie I also produced the tracks Calabi-Yau and Sunyata to join the compilation Ending the year on a high 2012 to be released by We Are All Ghosts on 24 December 2012.

And of course there was “Welcome to the Anthropocene”. A short film showing the massive effects of human activities to our planet. I’m so grateful that Félix Pharand-Deschênes, the founder of Globaia.org, has chosen an excerpt of Continuo I as soundtrack for this breathtaking film which was opening the United Nation’s RIO20+ summit on sustainable development in June 2012.

And I feel very thankful in a even more personal layer. Beloved people in my surroundings are still alive and healthy. That’s a true reason for thankfulness. Everything else is just a bonus. :-)
